CAMBODIAN ELDERS PROGRAM

The purpose of the Cambodian Elders Program is to provide the Cambodian community culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate services to assist the Cambodia Elders.  The elder’s assistance program offers Cambodian elders age 60 and older with the following services:  SSI, welfare, advocacy, citizenship, translation, transportation, immigration assistance, civic education, social gathering, health education, physical activities, funeral assistance, English language classes, Medicare application, cultural and traditional ceremonies, and housing assistance.

 

Cambodian Elders Program assists the elders to acclimate to a new culture and to live healthy lives.  In 2006 the elderly program served 1,209 elders who lived in the lived in the seven county metropolitan area.  This program assisted by a group of our Senior Companion members who spend 4 hours a day and five days a week.
